John Altman | Playing Glastonbury would be a dream come true, says EastEnders legend John Altman
‘EastEnders’ actor John Altman wants to perform his new album at Glastonbury.
The 68-year-old actor – famous for playing villain ‘Nasty’ Nick Cotton on the BBC One soap on-and-off for three decades – is releasing a new album, ‘Never Too Late To Rock and Roll’, in November.
Once the coronavirus pandemic is over John hopes to start playing his new songs live and his dream is to grace one of the stages at Michael and Emily Eavis’ world famous festival.
When asked if it is his ambition to one rock the Glastonbury crowd, he said: “That would be another dream come true, it would be great.”
Talking about going on tour once the various COVID-19 restrictions are lifted, John – who previously was the lead singer for bands Resurrection and Heavy Metal Kids – added: “I’d love to, I really would, very much. I love performing.”
The first single, ‘Hallucinating You’, comes out on October 16 and the album – which was produced by by indie legend Mark Christopher Lee, who was discovered by late DJ John Peel, and who plays with Guinness Record breaking band The Pocket Gods – follows on November 20.
The LP contains songs that John has written has over the past 20 years and he admits the record is like an anthology of his life and opinions.
One song, ‘Outrageous’, sees John mocking American President Donald Trump and Nigel Farage, the British politician who was a key campaigner for Brexit, and the actor admits it’s great to able to share his political views in his music.
Speaking to BANG Showbiz, he said: “Ive written these songs over the past 20 years, the album is a bit of an anthology really, it’s a history of my political views, my broken heart, a bit of madness and a bit of imagination.
“There’s a track called ‘Twisted Mind’ which is a really hard-hitting punk track about Robert Mugabe, I hated him, he wrecked Zimbabwe. People like him, that’s what ‘Twisted Mind’ is all about.
“Donald Trump is mentioned in a song called ‘Outrageous’. The line is ‘let’s live it large like Trump and Farage.’ I just stuck that in. “Trump is unbelievable, what’s the next statement he’s going to put out? That he’s from the planet Krypton and he’s going to save the world, dear or dear. He could say something like that, ‘I’m from planet Krypton, I feel like Superman!’ It’s a crazy world out there.”

Iris Law relaxes with essential oils and loose-leaf tea.
The 20-year-old daughter of Sadie Frost and Jude Law says it is important for her home to be a “sacred” and “calming” place amid the chaos of everyday life.
She told Vogue.co.uk: “It’s really important to make your home feel like a sacred place. I like finding a ritualistic and calming side to every day, so I’ll often cook with my boyfriend and I have a beautiful diffuser that my auntie got me, which has different essential oils. It makes my room smell lovely before going to bed. Also, I have different loose-leaf teas from a variety of places.”
Speaking earlier this year about essential oils, she said: “I’ve turned my room into a sanctuary. I have a Puzhen aroma diffuser and doTerra Essential Oils.”
Iris is carving out her own career as a model but previously revealed she turns to her mother for fashion advice and even raids Sadie’s wardrobe whenever she can.
She said: “My black Chanel bag used to be my mum’s. It’s hot pink inside, it’s so tiny it feels like you’re holding just a wallet, and it goes with every outfit.”
Along with Chanel handbags, Iris also loves the brand’s make-up, explaining: “I’m a lipstick addict. I’ll change it throughout the day depending on what mood I’m in, but I love berry, especially Chanel’s Rouge Allure in the shade Passion

Emma will play the role of Nancy Stokes, a 55-year-old widow who yearns for sex and human connection that she never got in a stable but stale marriage. She devises a plan and hires ‘sex therapist’ Leo Grande, a man in his 20s, for a night of bliss.

Letitia Wright | Letitia Wright: All-female Avengers film will happen soon
Letitia Wright believes an all-female ‘Avengers’ film will happen soon.
The 26-year-old star has played the role of Shuri in ‘Black Panther’ and two ‘Avengers’ flicks and believes that an all-female superhero ensemble will come to fruition in the Marvel Cinematic Universe as it already has the backing of producer Victoria Alonso.
Asked about the possibility of a female team-up, Letitia said: “I don’t think we have to fight for it. Victoria Alonso is very strong about spearheading it, alongside Kevin (Feige, Marvel chief). It’s only a matter of time before they do it.”
‘Captain Marvel’ star Brie Larson revealed last year that she and her castmates have approached Kevin about the possibility of making an all-female superhero movie.
The 31-year-old actress explained: “I will say that a lot of the female cast members from Marvel walked up to Kevin and we were like, ‘We are in this together, we want to do this!’
“What that means, I have no idea. You know, I’m not in charge of the future of Marvel, but it is something that we’re really passionate about and we love and I feel like if enough people out in the world talk about how much they want it, maybe it’ll happen.”
Meanwhile, Letitia opened up about how special it was to star in ‘Black Panther’, the first motion picture from Marvel to feature a predominantly black cast.
The ‘Guava Island’ actress told Yahoo! Entertainment: “It was always a dream of mine to play someone that can be impactful not only for black women but also just for women around the world and young people, too.
“To be able to have a combination of people and audience members who are so thrilled and appreciative of Shuri is a good feeling. I feel like I contributed something positive in the world.”
