Towns and villages across Britain and Ireland are being honoured for the release of the new book ‘Quidditch Through the Ages’.

The book – written by J.K Rowling and illustrated by Emily Gravett – is an essential companion to the ‘Harry Potter’ series and gives readers guidance on the wizard’s favourite sport.

Bloomsbury Publishing is presenting towns featured in the Quidditch league with decorative banners based on Quidditch goal hoops and celebrating their fictional teams.

The banners will be presented at mayoral ceremonies and socially-distanced celebrations across the country. The first celebrations took part at Ballycastle Beach (Ballycastle Bats) and Pendennis Castle, Falmouth (Falmouth Falcons).

A spokesperson for Bloomsbury Publishing said: “We’re really proud to hold these ceremonies in towns and villages across the United Kingdom and Ireland. Quidditch captured the imaginations of children and adults across the world, and the new book Quidditch Through the Ages, beautifully illustrated by Emily Gravett, is a magical companion for those who want to immerse themselves in the wizarding world of Harry Potter.

“‘Harry Potter’ fans can now unearth the real-life towns and villages inspiring the names of Quidditch teams but we ask anyone planning a visit to these locations to first check national and local travel guidance on coronavirus to ensure their visit is made safely. For communities that are currently experiencing stricter measures, we encourage people to support their favourite Quidditch team virtually by visiting the official Harry Potter fan club, Wizarding World.”

The eleven honorary Quidditch towns receiving the banners are:

• Appleby (Appleby Arrows)

• Ballycastle (Ballycastle Bats)

• Caerphilly (Caerphilly Catapults)

• Falmouth (Falmouth Falcons)

• Holyhead (Holyhead Harpies)

• Kenmare (Kenmare Kestrels)

• Montrose (Montrose Magpies)

• Portree (Pride of Portree)

• Tutshill (Tutshill Tornados)

• Wigtown (Wigtown Wanderers)

• Wimborne (Wimborne Wasps)

Ariana Grande | Ariana Grande praised by producer

ariana grande 2172150

Ariana Grande‘s producer knew immediately that he wanted to work with her.

Tommy ‘TBHits’ Brown has been collaborating with Ariana since her 2013 debut album ‘Yours Truly’ and he admitted he was blown away by Ariana during their first meeting.

He said: “This girl can really, really sing and she’s really, really good. I wanted to connect outside of this studio and I played her some other retro-sounding beats I was doing.”

Ariana, 27, who has just released her latest album ‘Positions’, is equally gushing about Tommy.

She explained to the Wall Street Journal magazine: “One of the things I love most about working with Tommy is that none of the beats he plays me ever sound the same. He’s never afraid to try new things and is always willing to experiment and grow with me.”

The Covid-19 pandemic affected how they recorded the latest album, as they moved between Brown and Grande’s in-home recording studios in California this year.

And although Brown was shocked when Ariana recently announced the release date for the album, he also called her a “guru” for knowing that it was time to drop her new album, following the release of ‘Thank U, Next’ in February 2019.

Elle Fanning | Elle Fanning stars in Gucci film series

elle fanning 2171429

Elle Fanning has partnered up with Gucci’s ‘Absolute Beginners’ film series.

The 22-year-old actress has joined the luxury fashion label alongside Jodie Turner-Smith and Kelvin Harrison Jr. to release a series of short films with nine first-time directors to celebrate “the potency of the pop culture and naïveté, the beauty in amateurism, and expose the power and vulnerability of the creative impulse while centering the Gucci Jackie 1961 bag”.

The nine films will be released in two drops on TikTok with the first one – which features Elle, Kelvin Harrison Jr., Jodie Turner-Smith, Benedetta Porcaroli and Emma Corrin – being released on October 28 and the second on November 6.

The second drop will feature films by Lily Gavin, Barry Keoghan, Yoshi, and Arlo Parks.

Speaking about the project, Elle said: “My film is about captivating the nature of Gucci. Even a dog can be hypnotised by its beauty. One night while drifting off to sleep, I thought of this western showdown between a dog and dog owner with a scoreboard keeping tallies of how Gucci always wins.

“Since I am an absolute beginner to directing, I wanted to make a statement with the tone. Yes, this is a fashion film, but why not tell a funny story while looking at sparkling garments?”

Kelvin added: “[My] film is essentially a story about the seemingly ever-present fear of love. The concept initially came from someone I was seeing who told me that the risk of falling in love was greater than the reward. They had come to believe that after so many unsuccessful attempts at sustaining a long-lasting relationship it was unfair to expect anyone to take on their accompanying baggage. It was suggested I may be naive to believe that someone could not only handle the baggage of another, but embrace it with an authorship as if it were their own”.

What’s more, the creator behind the original viral Gucci Model Challenge, Morgan Presley will release a “#GucciAbsoluteBeginners guide to living a Gucci life” video with audio for other creators on TikTok can use to re-create their own Gucci videos.

Jameela Jamil | Jameela Jamil: My clothes allow me to become different characters

jameela jamil 2171335

Jameela Jamil expresses her “different characters” through her clothes.

The 34-year-old actress thinks about her “plural” selves whilst getting ready for a red carpet event as she believes her fashion choices should represent how she feels on a daily basis.

In an interview with ELLE, she said: “I think about looking like my-selves — plural. We have so many different facets to ourselves. All the different characters that live within me come out, day-to-day, in my clothes, so fashion really becomes about, ‘Who do you feel like being today?’ “

However, Jameela admits she often wears oversized clothing as an “armour” to stop people from looking at and judging her body.

She explained: “Normally when I’m wearing a suit, I’m wearing it as armour. I often wear a baggy suit, and I’m deliberately wearing it to be released from my gender, and from anyone speculating at my body shape. It’s asexual and focused.

“I just want to look like a very chic brain, you know? I don’t need people looking at my body all the time, but I do want them to say, ‘She looks cool,’ and I want to feel cool. But I’ll also wear a tight dress and allow my body a moment. Just a moment!”

Meanwhile, ‘The Good Place’ star has openly criticised the Kardashians for promoting unrealistic body goals and but she doesn’t believe in the sisters being cancelled for good because they have the potential to use their fame and fans for good causes.

She explained: “I don’t believe in cancelling people who have the potential to do immense good. That’s incredibly stupid. Harvey Weinstein – cancel him. Cancel people who are a danger to society. The Kardashians, it would be madness not to call them in to help fix the thing they’ve been part of perpetuating. But seeing what Kim has done with prison reform?! That’s a sign of what happens when they utilise their power for good. These are powerful women, and I think they’ve already started changing.”
