RuPaul broke records when he scooped the Outstanding Host for a Reality or Competition Program for the fifth year in a row at the 2020 Creative Arts Emmy Awards on Saturday (19Sep20).

The 59-year-old “RuPaul’s Drag Race” host took home the prize during the virtual ceremony, breaking the record for the most victories in the category’s 13-year history.

In his acceptance speech, the drag performer urged fans to get out and vote in the upcoming election, insisting, “Tonight the only political statement I want to make is this: love.”

“Love for our LGBT brother and sisters, love for Black queens and brown queens and love for the United States of America. The time has come for you to vote for your lives.”

RuPaul ended his acceptance speech while dedicating the award to Chi Chi DeVayne – the season eight contestant who sadly died last month (Aug20) following a battle with pneumonia.

“I’d like to dedicate this Emmy to one of my girls, Chi Chi DeVayne,” RuPaul said. “May you rest in power and perfection.”

RuPaul beat out fellow nominees Nicole Byer for “Nailed It!“, Amy Poehler and Nick Offerman for “Making It“, the cast of “Shark Tank“, and the cast of “Queer Eye” for the prize.

“RuPaul’s Drag Race” has won additional accolades at the Television Academy awards for outstanding casting, editing, contemporary hairstyling and make-up.

The finale of the Creative Arts Emmy Awards on Saturday was a night of firsts as Eddie Murphy, Ron Cephas Jones, and Michael Jordan took home their first trophies each. Murphy was feted for his hosting gig on “Saturday Night Live“, Jordan for his sports docuseries “The Last Dance“, and Jones for “This Is Us“.

Lee Morrison | James Bond bosses dowsed an Italian street in $60k worth of Coca-Cola for a stunt

daniel craig 2165789

James Bond bosses spent almost £60,000 spraying Coca-Cola onto an Italian street.

The upcoming film in the franchise, ‘No Time To Die’, opens with a chase sequence in Matera, with a stand-out moment being when the suave spy carries out a 70ft leap onto the Piazza del Duomo on a motorbike.

And stunt coordinator Lee Morrison had a special trick up his sleeve to help rider Paul Edmondson – who was standing in for Daniel Craig – to hit an 8m ramp at 50-60mph in order to to successfully scale the 22 metre wall on his 450cc motocross bike.

Speaking to Total Film magazine, he explained: “It’s a bit of a dark art. You’ve got to hit the back brakes and bring the front end down because the front wheel spins and acts as a gyro. You’re doing it subconsciously. It’s 40 years of riding.”

To gain traction on the smooth stone, Lee found dousing it with the fizzy drink very helpful.

He added: “I’ve been spraying Coca-Cola on slippery surfaces for a very long time. I spent nearly £60,000 spraying Coca-Cola around Matera – Barbara [Broccoli, producer] looked at me as if I’m crazy. And it makes things look very clean after it washes off.”

And the wardrobe bill was also likely to have caused huge costs on the theme because every time Bond is seen wearing a designer suit from Tom Ford, the fashion house have had to produce more than 30 replicas to fulfil the needs of the production.

Costume designer Suttirat Anne Larlarb explained: “A lot of people are aware of the multiples thing. But some people aren’t aware that one suit on Bond has 33 versions, spread across Daniel’s stunt double, driving double, a VFX version of it, and then multiple stages of action distress.

“Tom Ford has done it so many times before they don’t even had an eyelid when you ask for tens of these one-off tuxedos that aren’t available anywhere else in the world.”

Noel Gallagher | Noel Gallagher: I want John Squire on my next album

noel gallagher 2166058

Noel Gallagher wants Stone Roses guitarist John Squire to play on his new album.

The former Oasis rocker is working on a new album with his High Flying Birds band, and has said he would love for John to make a guest appearance on the record, although he noted the musician can be “a bit aloof”.

Speaking about John, Noel said: “He’s a great artist, so he’ll be selling art if he’s got any sense. He’s a great guitarist, I’m always threatening to get him to play on one of my records, but I never get round to asking him. I will do. He’s a bit aloof. He used to work for an animation studio before he was in The Stone Roses. There was a kids TV programme, like a puppet thing, kind of like Trumpton, he worked in the studio that made that. He was an animator and model maker. He did all The Stone Roses art work.”

Noel, 53, is hard at work on his new material, and says he’s written a song that would be perfect as the soundtrack to a Quentin Tarantino film.

He added: “I’ve got a song that I recently wrote that sounds f****** great, it sounds like a spaghetti western, and it would be great in a Quentin Tarantino film, it’s brilliant, but the verses are really low and the chorus is really high.”

And the ‘Black Star Dancing’ hitmaker teased his new album will be “more raw” that his previous solo studio ventures.

Speaking on Matt Morgan’s podcast, he said: “I’m doing this album on my own. I just tend to record the best songs, but as I’m not in a period of writing in the studio – I did all that with David [Holmes] and on ‘Black Star Dancing’ and ‘Blue Moon Rising’, just making it up – I’ve got a lot of songs written that we written before David got involved, he didn’t want any full songs.

“I’ve got a feeling that it will be very heavily guitar based. They’ll be pop songs but they’ll be a bit edgy. Like, ‘Chasing Yesterday’ is a guitar album, but they’re cleanish guitar sounds, they’re quite considered, this will be more raw I think. Now I’ve got my studio they’ll be more time to dig into it.”

Adele | Adele’s album isn’t finished

adele 2167509

Adele’s new album isn’t finished yet.

The ‘Hello’ hitmaker has insisted she’s working on new material – which will be her fourth studio album, and her first since 2015 – but has said her album is “not finished”.

Adele, 32, gave the update whilst hosting ‘Saturday Night Live’ this weekend, after being asked why she wasn’t performing on the show as the weekly musical guest as well as working as the host.

She said in her opening monologue: “I know there’s been a lot of chatter about why I’m just the host, like, ‘Why isn’t she the musical guest’ and stuff like that. And there’s a couple of reasons – my album’s not finished, and I’m also too scared to do both. I’d rather just put on some wigs – this is all mine, by the way – have a glass of wine, or six, and just see what happens.”

The news comes after she recently told fans she had “no idea” when she would be releasing new music.

When one fan commented on social media, “Adele where’s the album?”

The ‘Rolling in the Deep’ hitmaker then replied: “I honestly have no idea.”

Meanwhile, it was previously reported that the award-winning singer had “been pouring her heart and soul” into the new record and has been working with Raphael Saadiq and John Legend.

A source said: “Adele is pouring her heart and soul into this record, including how she feels post-divorce. She’s been a fan of Raphael since she was a teenager and loves his back catalogue. She wants her next album to be full of soul, with a more eclectic sound … She’s said in the past that creating new music is almost like therapy. You can tell that she is ready to share with her fans. She is so busy, but her life is better-rounded than it was before. She is very fulfilled being an artist. New music is still a big deal for her, and she feels alive and happy.”
