The Vamps took a break because they were worried about boredom and burnout.
The group – comprised of Bradley Simpson, Tristan Evans, Connor Ball and James McVey – enjoyed a short hiatus before returning with new single ‘Married In Vegas’ this year and James believes it saved them from breaking up.
He told The Sun newspaper’s Bizarre column: ”It was getting to a point where it was turning into a conveyer belt.
”We loved what we were doing but it was about making sure that we weren’t going to burnout. We needed to live a little bit.
”Last year we had a moment where we wanted to take some time apart just to see what would happen and we naturally gravitated back together, which was nice as I imagine a lot of bands after nine years of touring probably don’t ever come back.”
The group – who have been together since 2012 – decided to write their new album together, without outside influences, and they all reunited at an Airbnb to work on the record.
James explained: ”It’s taking those risks that are really important for us and Brad always says you need to get bored before realising what you want.
”We’re more invested in the music and we’re really excited to get back on the road and tour it.”
Cynthia Nixon | Cynthia Nixon backs ‘amazing’ Sharon Stone for Sex and the City role
Cattrall previously revealed that she would not be reprising her role as Samantha Jones for the aborted third film with the ‘Basic Instinct’ star suggested as a possible replacement – an idea that has the support of Cynthia.
The 54-year-old actress, who played Miranda Hobbes in the comedy series, said: ”I think Sharon would be of course totally amazing. Kim was incredibly great as Samantha, I think Sharon would totally make it her own.”
Cynthia also agrees with suggestions that Kim’s replacement would be a ”woman of colour”.
She told ‘Watch What Happens Live’: ”I’ve also heard many people say, including Kim Cattrall herself, that if we were to have a different fourth woman that maybe it would be a woman of colour this time. And I think that would be amazing as well.”
Sharon, who was also a guest on the show, told host Andy Cohen: ”I think that’s right.”
The 62-year-old actress added that she was unaware of the casting speculation but declared that she would be ”honoured” to work alongside Nixon.
Cynthia’s co-star Sarah Jessica Parker previously called the suggestion of Sharon joining ‘Sex and the City’ ”really interesting”.
Kim, 64, previously stated that she had played the character of Samantha ”past the finish line and then some”.
She remarked: ”It’s a great part. I played it past the finish line and then some, and I loved it. Another actress should play it – maybe they could make it an African-American Samantha Jones or a Hispanic Samantha Jones.”
Michael Jai White Doubts Jamie Foxx Befits Mike Tyson Role in Biopic
The ‘Spawn’ star, who has portrayed the boxing legend in 1995’s HBO movie ‘Tyson’, has some reservations about Foxx’s physical transformation for the upcoming film.
Michael Jai White has thrown a subtle shade at Jamie Foxx ahead of the latter’s portrayal of Mike Tyson in an upcoming biopic. Having played the former boxing champion in 1995’s HBO movie “Tyson”, the 52-year-old actor has weighed in on the forthcoming movie starring Foxx as the retired athlete.
Speaking to VladTV, the “Spawn” star cast his doubt that the “Django Unchained” actor would be able to pull off portraying the former world heavyweight champion. His reservations mostly came from Foxx’s physical transformation, which he deemed not up to standards to channel the former heavyweight boxer.
“If there’s another angle that Jamie’s pulling out then, hey that’s cool. That’s a helluva undertaking for him,” said White in an interview. When Vlad mentioned that Foxx has “bulked up” for the role, White insinuated that the pictures of “The Amazing Spider-Man 2” star which have been circulating online cannot be trusted.
“I don’t believe a lot of stuff in pictures, ’cause when I see him-we’ve got a lot of friends in common. When I see him it’s like, ‘Did he just lose weight to catch this flight?’ ” he said. Noting that he’s “not going to disparage anything,” he added, “but you kinda know how-it’s clickbait.”
White went on noting that bulking up to gain muscle like Tyson in such a short time can pose to be a serious health issue. While he was able to do it for the TV movie, he was unsure if Foxx could handle the physical demands.
The still-untitled Mike Tyson biopic has been in development since 2014. Earlier this year, Foxx confirmed that the project is finally happening, with him teasing his transformation for the role during Mark Birnbaum’s Instagram Live series “Catching Up With Mark Birnbaum” in June.
“Every other day, I do 60 pull-ups, we do 60 dips, we do 100 push-ups,” Foxx said of his preparation for the movie. While his fitness routine has already changed the upper half of his body, the Academy Award-winning actor revealed that they would still need CGI and prosthetic to complete his transformation.
“I ain’t got no calf muscles, so we’re gonna have to get some prosthetics for that,” he shared. He added that he aimed to be 216lbs when filming starts as he plays a younger version of the boxer, and then he will “balloon to 225, 230 which will look like 250 on screen.”
Jason Priestley | Jason Priestley: Shannen Doherty has ‘always been a fighter’ as she battles cancer
The ‘Beverly Hills, 90210’ star is battling stage four cancer and her former co-star has been incredibly supportive of Shannen and knows she will ”fight”.
Speaking to Australia’s Studio 10, he said: ”I reach out to Shannen every few months, just to check in on her and say hi. Shannen’s a real tough girl, and Shannen’s a fighter and she’s always been a fighter and I know that she will continue to fight as hard as she can.”
Meanwhile, Jason previously admitted he was ”heartbroken” over Shannen’s cancer diagnosis.
The 50-year-old actor said: ”I reached out to her yesterday when the news broke. She’s overwhelmed with well wishers and with people reaching out to her. I haven’t heard back from her yet, but I’m sure that I will very soon. Shannen was a big part of my life. Shannen and I will always have a bond that is very meaningful. I’m very heartbroken about the news and I wish her and her family the best in this very difficult time.”
Shannen revealed her diagnosis this week, when she admitted she’s still struggling to ”process” the news.
The 48-year-old actress said: ”It’s going to come out in a matter of days or a week that – I’m stage four. So my cancer came back. And that’s why I’m here. I don’t think I’ve processed it. It’s a bitter pill to swallow in a lot of ways. I definitely have days where I say why me. And then I go, well, why not me? Who else? Who else besides me deserves this? None of us do. But I would say that my first reaction is always concern about how – how am I going to tell my mom, my husband.”
