Dan Smith and co have joined forces with the Britpop legend, who plays guitar and contributed vocals on the pulsating number, which the frontman has hailed as ”urgent”.
He said: ”We finished the song and it felt urgent.
”We didn’t want to sit on it.”
On their new chapter following the release of 2019’s concept LP ‘Doom Days’, Dan – who is joined by Kyle Simmons, Will Farquarson and Chris Wood in the ‘Good Grief’ group – explained: ”This next phase feels like a new beginning.
”It’s about completely tearing up our process, being spontaneous and starting again.
”We’re just really excited by the new songs. I think we’re making some of the best music we’ve ever made. We want to put it out now and not wait for the whole album to be done before anyone starts to hear it. This is about where we are now and hearing us in real-time.”
The new song sees Bastille warn people of the pitfalls of living behind a screen.
Dan added: ”Whether we’re outside or online we’re perpetually hit by so many people vying for our attention.
”But we’re just left rolling our eyes at how rarely it’s for anything that decent or funny.”
On third album, ‘Doom Days’ – which followed a night out amid an apocalypse – Dan previously said the record contrasted with their previous LP, 2016’s ‘Wild World’, and their next offering is set to follow suit.
He said: ”With this album, we literally set out to make an album about a night out. If our second album was about the world, then this was about choosing the opposite – choosing ignorance, choosing to escape everything for one night.”
‘What You Gonna Do???’ is set to feature on their as-yet-untitled fourth studio album.
It follows the ‘Pompeii’ hitmakers’ soundtrack to the John Lewis Christmas advert, a cover of REO Speedwagon’s 1984 hit ‘Can’t Fight This Feeling’.
Taylor Swift | Taylor Swift gifts handmade blanket to Gigi Hadid’s daughter
The 25-year-old model gave birth to her first child with her boyfriend Zayn Malik earlier this week, and she has now revealed her close pal Taylor sent the newborn baby – whose name is not yet known to the public – a soft pink blanket which she had made herself.
Posting a picture of her daughter – in which the tot’s face was not shown – snuggled up in the blanket, Gigi wrote on her Instagram Story: ”auntie @taylorswift made this !! (sic)”
In the picture, her daughter was also wearing a Versace babygro, which Gigi proudly announced was a gift from Donatella Versace.
The sweet gifts come after Zayn, 27, revealed the birth of the little one earlier this week with a sweet social media post.
He wrote: ”Our baby girl is here, healthy & beautiful to try put into words how i am feeling right now would be an impossible task. The love i feel for this tiny human is beyond my understanding.Grateful to know her, proud to call her mine, & thankful for the life we will have together x (sic)”
Whilst Gigi admitted she is ”so in love” with the little one.
She wrote on Instagram: ”Our girl joined us earth-side this weekend and she’s already changed our world. So in love (sic)”
The pair – who have been dating on and off since 2015 – both shared black and white photos of their daughter’s tiny hand.
Meanwhile, Gigi confirmed her pregnancy in April, after ”family sources” first revealed the news.
She said at the time: ”Obviously, we wished we could have announced it on our own terms but we’re very excited and happy and grateful for everyone’s well wishes and support. Especially during this time, it’s a nice silver lining to be able to be home and be together and really experience it day by day.”
Charlie Puth | Charlie Puth ‘wasn’t cool enough’ for Fast and Furious franchise
Charlie Puth was told he wasn’t cool enough to sing ‘See You Again’.
Although the 28-year-old singer co-wrote the track, he almost didn’t end up singing it on the soundtrack to the movie ‘Furious 7’ because he ”didn’t fit the profile of ‘The Fast and the Furious”’ franchise.
He told British GQ: ”It was very early on when they told me that I couldn’t sing ‘See You Again’ because I didn’t fit the profile of ‘The Fast and the Furious’, AKA I wasn’t cool enough and I had goofy music videos. I hadn’t even signed my deal yet, but I called them up and said that I wasn’t going to give them the song, then I hung up and miraculously, one week later, I’m singing it.”
Charlie also revealed he has had some tough times in his career, including when a songwriter he admired told him his lyrics were terrible in 2012.
He said: ”In September 2012, a successful songwriter told me, pretty harshly at the time, that my lyrics sucked and that if I wanted to be better I really needed to hone in on becoming a stronger lyricist. It wasn’t the easiest thing to swallow at the time, but it ended up being really beneficial.”
However, Charlie finally started to believe in himself after he wrote the 2016 track ‘We Don’t Talk Anymore’.
He said: ”I think when I wrote ‘We Don’t Talk Anymore’, I felt like I was pretty good, because I thought that pre-chorus melody was clever. People actually didn’t really like that song when I first played it for them, the label wasn’t really feeling it, but I just knew it was catchy.”
Julianne Hough | Julianne Hough and Brooks Laich ‘working’ on romance
Julianne Hough and Brooks Laich are ”working” on their marriage.
The estranged couple announced in May they were splitting after three years of marriage, but sources have now said it seems a reconciliation between the pair is ”looking more and more likely”.
An insider told People magazine: ”[Julianne and Brooks are] definitely working on their marriage again. A reconciliation is looking more and more likely.”
The decision to call time on their marriage was announced in a joint statement earlier this year, after they had spent months self-isolating separately amid the coronavirus pandemic, with Brooks, 37, in Idaho and Julianne, 32, at home in Los Angeles.
Their statement read: ”We have lovingly and carefully taken the time we have needed to arrive at our decision to separate. We share an abundance of love and respect for one another and will continue to lead with our hearts from that place. We kindly request your compassion and respect for our privacy moving forward.”
Despite their split, the pair have remained close, with former hockey player Brooks even joining Julianne to celebrate her 32nd birthday in July.
And Brooks later said his wedding day was the ”greatest time of [his] life”, as he lamented for those who are unable to get married this year because of the coronavirus pandemic.
He said: ”I have friends that have had to postpone their wedding and my heart absolutely breaks for them, because reflecting on my wedding and how that was just the greatest time of my life, I just want everybody to have that experience. That memory of your world, her world, both worlds colliding, the people you love the most in the world coming together to celebrate love.
”I just want that for people and it breaks my heart to hear weddings being postponed and so my perspective would be yeah, from the guy’s standpoint it is as disappointing or saddening if the wedding has to be postponed.”
